The
Surreal Life
The Uranus-Neptune mutual reception (Uranus
is in Neptune's sign Pisces, while
Neptune is in Uranus' sign of Aquarius)
has greatly intensified our cultural
obsession with celebrities. Paparazzi
can barely keep up with the absurd
public demand for more and more real-life
celebrity photos. The line between
celebrities and the rest of us is
rapidly eroding.
The Surreal Life is a VH1 television
series in which second-chance celebrities
(Vanilla Ice, “Mini-me”
Vern Troyer, etc.) are thrown together
in a house and video taped 24/7. It’s
surreal, but then again so are the combined
energies of Uranus and Neptune.
The show is now in its fifth season
and its popularity continues to grow.
Each season finds a new batch of one-time
“stars” becoming stars once
again. When they each drop their stage
and glamour masks, as they inevitably
must, the television audience finds
out that celebrities are human beings
who really crave love and human connections,
of which fame offers but a dim reflection,
more than anything in the world. In
that way, Surreal
Life celebrities become human-sized
and the audience experiences a connection.
That is the mutual reception of Uranus
and Neptune.
